Dana Oertell Scoby - President and CEO

With more than 20 years of experience working for companies in high-tech public relations, business and consumer product marketing and promotions, Dana ventured into consulting because it expanded the possibilities of working with a wide variety of companies in many different fields. She found the consulting work exciting and challenging as well as rewarding. Early in 2001 she founded Oertell Communications (now Maestro Communications) with the objective to offer a full complement of marketing and public relations services to support these companies, no matter where they were based or what their marketing communications challenges were. To date, her small firm has been successful despite the cooling business climate - testimonial to her personal capabilities as well as her valuable resources and excellent connections.

Dana's career began in advertising just after graduating with a BA from UCLA, where for five years she developed a plethora of skills as an account executive, media buyer, and production manager for Hakuhodo Advertising and Daily & Associates Advertising. Dana has also worked directly for both Fortune 500 and start up companies largely as marketing and public relations director. Such companies include Sony, Bio-Hydration Research Lab, Inc, Digitcom Communications and Sayit, Inc.

More recently as consulting director of marketing and public relations for Bio-Hydration Research Lab, Inc., Dana helped bring an unknown bottled drinking water called Penta to the #1 selling water in health food stores nationwide. As account director at The Terpin Group, Dana managed a team of five account executives working closely with high-technology companies such as Sybersay, Micropath, HotVoice, Locality Inc. and Suse Linux. At Terpin, she also revamped the agency's website and sales materials and won two new clients for the company, Artkor, Ltd. and Locality Inc. Prior to The Terpin Group, Dana worked for key video and computer game publishers such as Psygnosis, a subsidiary of Sony; Activision, currently the number two game publisher; and a variety of game developers and publishers including, Bandai, Surreal Software, iROCK Interactive, Devil's Thumb Entertainment, Zono and Sony, Europe. She has also worked side-by-side with the PR and marketing departments of key Silicon Valley industry players such as Intel, AMD, Compaq, Dolby, nVidia, 3D Labs and others to promote and bring new technology and innovations to the market.

Dana's other industry experience includes working in the consumer and business electronics, semiconductor, telephony, data communications, security and food service industries. During this time, Dana developed turnkey marketing programs and launched successful PR campaigns for companies such as Citizen Consumer Electronics, Alpine Electronics, Metrosound, Sync Research, 3D Systems, PG&E, Toshiba Semiconductor (4 divisions), Zojirushi, Kirin and Sapporo. In addition to her BA from UCLA, Dana and has taken numerous classes in design and graphic arts and public relations to elevate her creative and communications skills. During any moment of downtime, you'll find her playing the violin in four different symphony orchestras in the bay area. She is also fluent in French, enjoys gardening, hiking and skiing, and tries to keep up with her very tech-savvy teenage son.
